What kids say:
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is
different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7
Trying to forget someone you love is like trying to remember someone you never met.
I love you not because it is right, but because I love you.
Love is like swallowing hot chocolate before it has cooled off. It takes you by surprise at first, but keeps you warm for a long time.
Real loss only occurs when you lose something that you love more than yourself.
What do you live for when all you were living for is gone?
Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake
and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love catches you when you don't want it to and ensnares you in a trap with no escape.
